Ha Nguyen received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with distinction from Hanoi University of Education in Hanoi, Viet Nam. He received his masters degree from MIT in 2009. Before coming to MIT, Ha worked as a researcher for the Information Technology Institute of Vietnam National University. He was partially supported by a Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) fellowship.
